Abstract
A periodic set of parallel dielectric fibers is embedded in a lossless dielectric slab backed by an infinitely conducting plane. The period of the grating is such that only the zero order mode exists. Then the array behaves like a homogeneous medium. Each fiber is quasi-randomly distributed in the reference cell. We compare the average reflectivity obtained by the integral representation to a homogenization approach.
