Abstract
At the K.U.Leuven, telecommunicatious engineering students used to study different kinds of components and techniques before they studied telecommunications systems. Since two years we have completed the education with a series of six seminars during which students build (simulate) a microwave satellite link for mobile communications. The different aspects of this simple system are treated in detail in several subsequent courses. As such, these seminars serve as an appetizer for these courses.
