Abstract :
The European Commission Joint Research Centre´s studies so far have shown that ScanSAR Narrow imagery can be used for fisheries control as it combines large coverage of fishing grounds and resolution sufficient to distinguish vessels subject to the VMS (Vessel Monitoring System). Studies were performed in typical fishing grounds such as Flemish Cap, the North Sea etc.
