  • Abstract
    We proposed in this article a novel kind of guiding cable with ultra-fine cross-section. The cable is characterized by its bending-insensitive and high-strength properties. Bending-insensitive fibers are included in the cable. The fibers are coated with high-strength yarn layers, which were surrounded by the outer coating layer. The outer diameter of the cable is in the range of 0.25-0.45mm, and the tensile strength is 8kg-15kg. The minimum allowable bend radius is as low as 5 mm. And the cable could be used at the circumstance temperature of -60 °C~85 °C. The optical cable proposed in this paper can break the space and the environment limitations of conventional optical cable. The proposed optical cable has the qualities of ultra-fine outer cladding, high tensile strength, excellent bending-insensitive properties, and long length.
