Abstract
We study a single-period single-item two-stage supply chain consisting of an Air-condition manufacturer and a buyer. Some ubiquitous issues of seasonal items manufacturing such as production error in off-season and insufficient capability in midseason is analyzed. We propose an integrated MTO-MTS production mode for seasonal products, and develop a model with stochastic demands to study the relationship between delivery lead time and optimal production quantity, and demonstrate analytically how delivery lead time related factors influence optimal production quantity and cost.
