Abstract :
We demonstrated the fabrication of an InGaAlP multiple-quantum-wells semiconductor laser diode with a circular ring resonator and two Y-junction output couplers and its output characteristics. The output emission from Y-junction couplers showed competition between two different spectral groups; a single mode spectrum due to the circular-mode from the circular ring resonator and another multi-modes spectrum due to the linear resonator formed by these two Y-junction couplers. Results of light-current, and spectrum characteristics were presented and discussed to elucidate the interaction between these two lasing modes.
