Abstract
This paper presents the result of an analysis of the operating characteristics of a haptic touchscreen. The haptic touchscreen was fabricated by mounting an electrostatic parallel plate actuator between a touch panel and a display module. The operating characteristics of the haptic touchscreen were examined in terms of the force and displacement in the vertical direction. The results show that even in the case of the minimum force (near 10 mN), the haptic touchscreen is able to produce sufficient force to perceive the vibration for a wide range of frequencies, considering the threshold at which the user detects the vibration through the fingertips.
