Abstract :
This paper investigates the uplink performance of LTE-Advanced cellular networks upon relay node deployment. The uplink interference upon deploying relays is analyzed, and a resource partitioning scheme based on user grouping is proposed to mitigate the interference and improve system performance. Simulation results for the proposed resource partitioning scheme reveal that the throughput experienced by the user equipment upon relay deployment is clearly better than the throughput in conventional macro cellular deployments. Also, an improvement in the user equipment´s battery life is foreseen.
