Abstract :
In order to achieve a competitive position in markets for electronic systems, it is essential that equipment suppliers deliver performance, price and on time. This can best be achieved by a close working relationship between the system designer and the IC device manufacturer, with mutual understanding of priorities and constraints. GMMT, as a supplier of standard GaAs MMIC products as well as a GaAs Foundry, has considerable experience of successful product development and delivery. This paper will address some of the key issues in the successful design and manufacture of GaAs MMICs based on over ten years experience as a merchant manufacturer. Some important current and emerging applications will be reviewed, and device and manufacturing technology developments will be briefly described.
