Abstract :
In this contribution, a novel concept based on holography is introduced for the challenging topic of millimeter and submillimeter-wave power combining. To spatially combine power generated by a set of sources, the interference of their wavefronts with the desired combined wave is recorded in a hologram. Exposing the hologram to the field of the same sources produces the desired combined wave. Basic features of this method are, among other things, applicability to an arbitrary number of sources and scalability to even optical wavelengths. The contribution also covers an empirical realization of a holographic power combiner for 5 Gunn oscillators at 24 GHz.
