Abstract
Software process simulation and optimization hold out the promise of improving software development process and supporting CMMI implementation. This paper first brings up a two layer process simulation model (T-PSM). The higher level is called process model which expresses the structure of the model. The lower level contains a behavior model and a computation model. The behavior model describes the simulation behavior of a process and the computation model enables activities in processes with computation capability. Then a process optimization method is proposed by integrating T-PSM with organization´s process performance models to obtain simulation data. The process performance models represent the performance of the organizational processes and they are built by organization´s historical data. Finally, the system architecture of this method is presented.
