Abstract :
With global warming and pollution issues become more and more serious around the world, environmental education has been looked as an important instructional activity in K-12 education in many countries. The purpose of the study is to introduce a prototype of a Web-based Campus Environmental Information System (CEIS) designed for K-12 schools. The proposed system consists of several campus environmental information collection stations and related network platform software. Via the Internet, the system can automatically collect real-time campus environmental information, such as temperature, humidity, noise, air quality, and etc. Collected data could be used for environmental information query, educational services and informal learning activities such as online supported environment exploration, collaborative learning for K-12 schools. This system could not only serve people´s daily life, but also effectively promote the scientific inquiry ability of K-12 students.
