Abstract :
It is known that triangular fractal monopoles are resonant, log-periodic and multi-band antennas. In this work, the behavior of one of these antennas is improved substituting its traditional solid ground plane by a new ground plane with quasi-fractal concentric circular slots. Then, the resultant antenna shows a better return loss in its two bandwidths. Moreover, one of the two obtained bandwidths for VSWR <; 2 was slightly widened. The proposed antenna was simulated using an FDTD algorithm and then a good agreement between simulated and measured results it was observed. The proposed antenna also shows an approximate gain of 8.3 dBi in its second band.
