Abstract
We review the recent achievements in ultra-low loss hypocycloid-shaped core-contour (i.e. negative curvature) hollow-core photonic-crystal-fibre and its implementation for the generation of over five octave wide Raman comb, where its bandwidth extends from the UV to the long wavelength IR, and for the compression of MIR optical pulses where a 1.8 μm-wavelength femtosecond pulse was self-compressed to the sub-cycle cycle regime.
