Abstract
Computers have been commodities over the last few years and cluster systems using PC servers are currently working for many applications. A cluster system can potentially provide features of high availability, extended scalability and fault-tolerance. However, there are few cluster systems with both transaction-oriented capability and a single image of a system. In this paper, we propose a distributed lock manager´s architecture called shared-lock self-management distributed lock manager (SSDLM) for clustered file systems, which need both of the features. The architecture is based on self-management of shared locks in a node to decrease lock management overhead in a cluster system.
