Abstract :
The proposed penta-band PIFA is designed to operate at the frequencies 860~980 MHZ, 1710~3850 MHz, and 4960~5820 MHz, which cover the main cellular standard bands of GSM-900, DCS, PCS, UTMS, LTE, WiFi-802.11a/b/g/n, and Wimax. A tunable antenna height from 2 to 5 mm is also simulated and measured. This proposed penta-band PIFA with tunable antenna height is low-profile with satisfactory radiation efficiency, and is suitable for use in the smart phones.
