Abstract
In general, image fusion or sharpening is of great importance to various remote sensing and mapping applications, where the spatial information from a "high-resolution" image is merged with the radiometric information from a "low-resolution" image. Several pansharpening algorithms have been developed to improve the spatial resolution of the multispectral image while simultaneously retaining its spectral information. However, a quantitative measure performance of these algorithms has not been studied in details. This paper presents a quality analysis of pansharpening methods and assesses their performance in terms of quality metrics
