Abstract
The PRISM project at the University of Kansas has developed the necessary tools and infrastructure to bring the daily activities of polar ice sheet research to students and the general public via the Web. PRISM is developing advanced intelligent remote sensing technology to measure key ice sheet characteristics, and PRISM investigators travel to remote ice sheet sites annually. We have developed "Virtual PRISM" as part of the PRISM web page, to allow the public to follow the field activities of the PRISM team in Greenland. "Virtual PRISM" includes a daily field log, digital images, video clips, access to weather data on the ice sheet, and a Java-based applet called the "Virtual Dashboard" that simulates sitting in the driver\´s seat of the PRISM robotic rover.
