Abstract :
In a bottle or can filling plant, the beverage should be chilled to the appropriate temperature. A plate heat exchanger is usually applied to do the cooling. We propose a new cooling method. The coolant is supplied from the refrigeration unit directly to the plate heat exchanger. The flow of it is controlled using a bypass valve. In order to improve the response and precision of the control, an observer and a regulator are introduced. Through simulations and an experiment at an experimental plant, we can conclude that our proposed method can be utilized in an actual filling plant
