Abstract :
The paper provides an incisive discussion on the topic of sensing technology for foodborne pathogen detection. It summarizes the main requirements for developing advanced technology. The state of the art will be briefly analyzed. The conclusion will outline the characteristics of the next generation technology. Practical Detection Limit will be suggested and described as new performance parameter that (1) establishes a relation between analyzed sample volume and detection limit, (2) evaluates methods applicability and (3) allows direct comparison between different methods. Based on the above scenario and requirements, an innovative method and related system design have been investigated in our laboratories. The obtained experimental results will be referred to and discussed in relation to the above.
