Abstract :
We describe the development of a programmable alternating voltage source based on a non-hysteretic Josephson array. The array is driven by a sinusoidal signal in combination with a digital code. The code causes the array to rapidly switch between states that correspond to its first positive and negative constant-voltage step respectively. If the inverse switching time is made comparable to the RF-drive frequency, the RMS value of the output-voltage can be calculated accurately.
