Abstract :
A 1.4-2.7 GHz monolithic vector modulator with continuous amplitude and phase control has been developed. Each state within a full 3600 phase range and a dynamic range greater than 13 dB is generated by combining two from among three vectors with variable amplitude and 120° apart. The control in amplitude for the three vectors is performed by sets of two MESFETs working as dual-gate MESFETs and the phase shift of 120° for these vectors is obtained through LC filters over the 1.4-2.7 GHz band. The circuit will be used as the control node in a Crossbar Beam Forming Network (CBFN).
