  • Abstract
To provide businesses with effective communications and management of information resources, Northern Telecom recently announced its corporate networking solution-Meridian Customer Defined Networking. This broad portfolio of products, applications, and customer support tools for corporate networking gives businesses of all sizes and complexity the freedom to create their own powerful hybrid networks. It establishes, for the first time, a peer-to-peer level of interworking between private and public networks, based on industry standard Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) and Common Channel Signalling System number 7 (CCS7) protocols and interfaces. This peer relationship allows a fully featured private network to appear as an equal partner to a fully featured public network (with the public network viewed as many `virtual´ private networks that also provide Centrex type services), and also to a fully featured long-distance network
