Abstract :
The South Hall Ring project under construction at Bates Linear Accelerator Center will require a large number of highly stable power supplies. Most of these supplies will be powering multipole magnets. Due to the costs of custom power supplies, the authors tested the feasibility of upgrading commercial supplies with an external controller to improve the current regulation from a typical value of 200 PPM to better than 25 PPM. The final design has been shown to comply with the high stability specifications for the multipole power supplies.<>
