Abstract
In NOAA/AVHRR channels 3 and 4 images, anomalous effects has been observed at Sun glint areas. The detection of those effects is essential for improving the accuracy of the satellite-derived sea surface temperature around the Sun glint area. In this paper, a number of techniques to separate that anomalous area from the normal area are developed on the basis of a statistical analysis of channel 4 images and the combination of channel 3 and 4 data. An effect due to AVHRR sensor response is also considered.
