Abstract
We evaluate the effect of two existing packetization and decoder error concealment (DEC) schemes on the Internet datagram loss process. A Markov chain and measured Internet datagram statistics is used to simulate the datagram loss process. The evaluation is also used to improve the trade off between using the intrapicture (I-picture) for error resilience and picture quality with rate control for a known network path.
