Abstract
Continuous and detailed energy monitoring is essential to ensure the energy efficient operation of complex systems such as homes and office buildings. In this paper, we introduce a novel energy monitoring solution that with a single sensor provides the energy consumption per each single device in an electrical group. The proposed method monitors only the voltage from one socket and maps the voltage variations to the power jumps caused by the different devices. It does not require to monitor the overall current, thus enabling an extremely simple energy monitoring solution.
