Abstract
In this paper, a novel microstrip antenna with dual-band resonance characteristics is presented, which covers frequencies 2.3 GHz, 2.5 GHz, and 3.5 GHz for the IEEE 802.16 WiMAX application. The proposed antenna structure consists of an elliptical monopole fed by a gradient microstrip line and a ground plane with a split-ring slot. The antenna is studied by means of numerical simulations. Compared to conventional antennas, this antenna has a simple structure in configuration and nearly Omni-directional pattern in H-plane. Details of the constructed prototypes and simulation results are presented and discussed.
