Abstract
This paper deals with the interoperability of mobile and personnel location systems. Mobile location systems are often seen as "black-boxes", using proprietary protocols and not allowing interoperability with other systems. In this paper we deal with the problem of allowing interoperability between different location systems while offering a unique interface to the outside applications. Those different systems and technologies must be supported simultaneously, and this is the key to the achievement of an extremely flexible system, which may be adapted to different situations and external applications. Here we present a possible solution to this problem and we also deal with several state-of-art subjects related to location systems. Some of the subjects are the protocols used in such system and some of the facilities developed and attached to the system during our research.
