Abstract :
This paper proposes a lineament extraction procedure from DEM using drainage network. Lineaments extracted from image data set often provide valuable geological information. In many cases, the lineaments correspond to a series of continuous large valleys because they are mainly formed by geomorphic processes along subsurface structures. We excluded alluvial zones since we focused only on geomorphic lineament. By using DEM, we were able to avoid bias caused by illumination direction, which is inherent in ordinary remotely sensed data. Based on the assumption that there is positive correlation between drainage network and lineament map, we have applied hierarchical Hough transform to the drainage network. The result seems reasonable in that it successfully identify the well known fault
