Abstract
An automatic measurements system is developed to measure the temperature T dependence of the surface resistance Rs of high Tc superconductors, by using two resonant modes TE012 and TE021 in a dielectric rod resonator placed between these two parallel plates. The relative permitivity and loss tangent of the dielectric rod, in addition to Rs, can be determined separately from measuring the resonant frequency and unloaded Q for these modes only one time as a function of T. It is demonstrated that excellent reproducibility of measurements can be obtained.
