  • Abstract
Traffic prediction is the most important factor for feedforward ventilation control for a tunnel on an expressway. The authors briefly explain the conventional prediction technique and its problems and describe a traffic prediction method based on a fuzzy theory. This fuzzy prediction method uses the traffic models and the traffic measured during the past hour as the inference parameters, and it infers the traffic for the next hour. A practical application of this fuzzy prediction method in which high precision was obtained is discussed
