Abstract :
We first examine the existing wireless services in south-east Asia and present our view of suitable communications services for this region. The major technical parameters of the Personal Access Communications System (PACS) are reviewed. Suitable applications and the key benefits of deploying PACS in this region are identified. The PACS trial activities and industry support of the PACS from major system vendors are reported. Techniques that further enhance the PACS system performance are described. With its technology and cost effectiveness, the PACS is expected to play an important role in various PCS applications
