Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a new MAC and DLC scheme for wireless ATM. The proposed MAC protocol utilizes wireless channels as effectively as possible to resolve the wireless channel´s bandwidth-limited characteristics. At the same time, the scheme guarantees the QoS of various service classes by means of an adaptive FEC code to overcome the wireless channel´s error prone and time varying characteristics. During the MAC and DLC procedures, the newly designed protocol estimates the channel´s condition for both bandwidth allocation and FEC to raise the channel utilization
