Abstract :
Since the 21st century, human activities, especially landuse have made a great change in the geographical environment, which bring changes of landcover. At present, many problems which people face are related with landuse and landcover changes. Landuse and landcover changes play a significant role in the study of global environmental changes. Based on the multi-temporal remotely sensed data of TM, the quantity and spatial distribution of landcover transformation from the 1988 to 2001 were analyzed with the transformation matrixes and the spatial layouts of landuse. The result reveals the spatial-temporal trends of landuse and landcover in Keriya Oasis by analyzing the changing characteristic and spatial distribution of landuse and landcover in the region, especially the transformation modes. The landcover change index aims to study the traits of landuse changes in spatial distribution.
