Abstract :
The authors outline the cognitive mechanisms employed in the development of a class of fuzzy logic controllers called the clearness transformation fuzzy logic controllers (CT-FLCs). The CT-FLC is characterized as a device which simulates human approximate reasoning at the level of fuzzy pattern processing. It employs pattern processing operations such as recognition, assessment, association, and approximation. This approximate reasoning scheme gives better time performance and yields a higher control quality than the existing fuzzy controllers. The performance of the CT-FLC is reported, using results of simulation studies on the control of complex nonlinear systems
