Abstract :
This paper presents a novel approach to the timing offset compensation based on knowledge of the code. The proposed algorithm consists of two parts: the first, an ML-optimal, rough synchronization and the second, a precise synchronization method, based on particular features of turbo coding. The performance of the presented algorithm is superior to the typical ML-based synchronizer and is close to the performance of a perfectly synchronized system
