  • Abstract
This paper considers the effect of signal quantisation on noncoherent matched filter (MF) code acquisition in a direct-sequence (DS) CDMA (code division multiple access) system. The signal structure is applicable to a wideband CDMA system. The performance measure is the probability of acquisition, Pacq, in a given acquisition time. The results indicate that the effect of quantisation is not significant, i.e., from the point of view of acquisition, only few bits are needed. The effect of signal quantisation can be modeled as noise increase. A mathematical model to evaluate the increase in noise level, and to evaluate the acquisition performance are given
