  • Abstract
In this paper, we propose the superposed multicarrier transmission scheme; it allows multiple signals to share the same frequency band without recourse to spectrum spreading. We also introduce a novel interference suppression technique which requires no change of existing wireless standards. It decodes FEC (Forward Error Correction) blocks after the metrics of interfered subcarriers are replaced by neutral value in the receiver. It minimizes their reliability and thus their impact on error correction performance. Computer simulations indicate that the proposed scheme with FEC Metric Masking can achieve higher total frequency utilization efficiency than conventional spectrum allocation even if a high power interference signal is present and CINR estimation is severely degraded on interfered subcarriers.
