Abstract :
This paper proposes a Ground-Based Polarization-Forming (GBPF) technique to realize a polarization-tracking-free satellite communication system that uses linear polarizations. In order to realize the polarization-tracking-free attribute, mobile terminals use circular polarization. To output circular polarization from the satellite antenna, onboard Horizontal and Vertical polarization output signals are controlled by the GBPF techniques. We fabricate a GBPF transmitter to evaluate the polarization forming performance. Measured results show that the proposed technique achieves the required performance.
