Abstract
The article focuses on call admission control (CAC) techniques proposed for multimedia UMTS systems employing wideband CDMA. Multiple access control in CDMA is an interference management problem, involving physical layer as well as networking aspects. The effect of various system and user parameters on the provided quality of service is investigated. Two CAC schemes are presented (fixed-dynamic) and different criteria for resource allocation are proposed and evaluated. The aggregation of circuit/packet switched multimedia services (voice, video, WWW data) is studied through detailed traffic models and the performance results are obtained using simulation.
