Abstract
The Uniform Theory of Diffraction (UTD) in conjunction with image theory is employed to develop a very fast analytical solution for the radiation pattern of a Bond-Wire Antenna (BWA). Physical insight is increased by the analytical model, i.e., we could distinguish between the effects of the direct, diffracted, and reflected fields in the radiation pattern. Good agreement is obtained between the measured radiation pattern of the BWA and our analytical model. Parameter studies to analyze the influence of the dimensions of the BWA on the Half-Power-Beam Width and the angle of maximum gain are presented. This information can be used to improve future designs.
