Abstract
The authors analyze the axiomatic propositions of the Mamdani method used in fuzzy logic control, and the logical method used in fuzzy expert systems. By relaxing these propositions using the concept of S-OWA operators, soft forms of these two methods are proposed. The Mamdani method and the logical method are considered as two extreme cases of a more powerful compromise type of fuzzy reasoning
