Abstract :
In the process of target tracking, the direction and velocity information of the target is not used in CamShift algorithm so that the tracking is always failed when the target is covered or rotated, while Kalman filter can predict velocity and position of target accurately. For this reason, the paper proposed a novel approach combining CamShift algorithm with Kalman filter for moving target tracking. Firstly, use Kalman filter to predict the possible position of the target in the next frame, and then search and match the target in the corresponding areas using CamShift algorithm. The approach reduces the calculation work greatly because of the smaller searching area. It has a reliable tracking. When the target is rotated or covered, we can also get a well tracking result and the tracking is reliable. The experiment shows that the approach is effective and accurate.
