Abstract
The mathematical concept of perfect boundaries (PEC, PMC, Impedance, DB, D´B´, etc) is extensively utilized in Electromagnetics to reduce the complexity of the regarded model. Therefore, the realization of these fictitious conditions through conventional magneto-dielectric materials is of high significance. In this paper, we examine how well the penetrable substances mimic the behavior of impenetrable surfaces for various refractive indexes of the constituent material, several excitation sources and different observation points. The effect of these parameters on the success of the boundary realization is presented and discussed.
