Abstract
An electronic instrument based on optical transmission to measure the hematological parameters-coagulation time, hematocrit and erythrocyte packing index-of healthy and diseased samples is developed. For hematocrit measurement, the instrument is calibrated by blood samples of different hematocrits, as measured by Wintrobe method. The coagulation time and hematocrit as measured by the TI variation show good agreement with that measured by capillary method and Wintrobe technique, respectively. The erythrocyte packing index provides valuable data on aggregation process of erythrocytes
