Abstract :
Paper is devoted to the study of impact of metallic foils accelerated by a pulsed high magnetic field. The numerical model of foil acceleration under effect of magnetic field pressure is elaborated. The facility TROB-100 was adapted and special equipment was constructed for this activity. The tool description, results of experiments on high-velocity impact of metallic foils, accelerated by a magnetic field pressure are presented in this paper. The purpose of the work is to study foils acceleration dynamics and decomposition and also to measure the dimension of products of explosion. Two metal foils were accelerated by a pulsed magnetic field up to relative velocity ~ 1-2 km/s. At the impact of the foils the directed energy is transferred to thermal energy during the time of order of sound propagation time in a metal foil. It is shown, that the foils are exploded at relative velocity of impact more than 1km/s. The size of explosion fragments is in the range of 5-100 nm.
