Abstract :
In the mine mapping process, the symbol library´s play an important especially in the digital mapping. The mine map production system has its own special property that is different from the common GIS platform. In this paper, the COM-based symbol library extension for mine mapping is studied in detail. Firstly, the COM mechanism is introduced to show the principle of the system. Secondly the COIM-based symbol library software extension is introduced which included geological symbol component library, mining component library, ventilation symbol component library, mining safety component library, survey component library and so on. The software extension has the property of extensible and opening and can be integrated into the COM-based common GIS platform such as Arclnfo8.3. At last, taking Shi Ganjie mine of China as an example, the use of the software library extension is shown to demonstrate the feasibility of the research and development achievement stated in this paper
