Abstract :
In this paper, a directional antennas-based topology control algorithm is proposed. It´s designed for the upper tier of a two-tiered wireless sensor network, but also could be introduced to other scenarios. The upper tier consists of a base station (BS) and several application nodes (ANs). The location of BS is adjusted adaptively according to the directions of arrived messages from ANs and data rate. Inter-AN relays are arranged, with neither position information nor detail directional information from its neighbors. The coverage of each AN is divided into several sections. Once there´s at least one neighbor in each section, the AN will be able to forward local-view to BS successfully. Also a set of optimizations that further simplify network topology and reduce power consumption is proposed. There is a discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate the efficiency of the algorithm.
