Abstract :
The 2011 IEEE Workshop on Evolving and Adaptive Intelligent Systems (EAIS-2011) is the fifth conference which continues the tradition established in 2006 in the Lake District, UK. It includes five sessions (28 oral presentations including two key note talks) covering the main topics of Evolving Fuzzy Systems, Evolving Neuro-Fuzzy Systems, Evolving Classifiers, Evolving Kernel-based Systems and Applications of Evolving Systems. The emerging area of evolving and adaptive intelligent systems is on a growing trend and is attracting the interest of the researchers across the Globe. It provides the methodological backbone of the newly emerging area that addresses the challenging issue of self-development/evolving and adaptation of computational systems which bear features of intelligence (reasoning, classification, prediction, decision making, control, etc.).
